Hiroshima-Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Exhibition

March 3, 2010

Regis University’s Dayton Memorial Library (DML) will host the Hiroshima-Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Exhibition from the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum during March 1-31, 2010.

The exhibit, sponsored by the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, features 27 replicas of drawings created by survivors of the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, 17 information posters, and dozens of other exhibit items.

Nate Matlock, archivist and administrator for the Regis University Center for the Study of War Experience, and Janet Lee, technical services librarian, are orchestrating the display at Regis University.

“The Regis University Center for the Study of War Experience explores the human cost of war, both in its immediate effects and its repercussions through time,” said Matlock. “Our partnership with the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum serves this end through the construction of an exhibit that tells the story of the atomic attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, emphasizing the personal tragedies and the enduring lessons that those tragedies have for us all.”

The exhibit is free and open to the public during normal DML operating hours. Call 303-458-0430 or visit for library information.

Colorado Springs branch library closed

December 7, 2009

Thursday, December 10th was the final day of operation for the Colorado Springs branch library. The university budget no longer supports full staffing of the library or provides funding for its collection. We know that the closure is disappointing for many of you and we regret that we had to make this difficult decision.

After the 10th, the book and media collections will be moved to Dayton Memorial Library on the Lowell campus. Current newspapers and magazines will still be available in a reconfigured student study space. Test preparation guides (CLEP and Dantes) will be made available in the study space on an honor borrowing system. All library materials currently checked out still need to be returned—if you are returning materials after December 10th, please use the book return in the campus lobby. As always, journal articles are available directly through library databases or interlibrary loan. Books can be requested from libraries across Colorado using the Prospector system and media materials (videos and dvds) can be requested using the interlibrary loan form on the library web page. All materials can be picked up from a Campus Associate at the campus main desk.

While the student study space will not be staffed, research assistance will still be available from the DML reference desk toll-free, by e-mail, and 24/7 using AJCU chat reference. Click on Ask Us! on any library web page for more information:
