DML Summer hours

April 24, 2014

Summer hours for the Dayton Memorial Library begin Saturday, May 3rd and are in effect through Saturday, August 23rd.

12:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Monday – Thursday
7:30 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Friday & Saturday
8:00 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.

The Reference Desk summer schedule is:

Sunday: 12:30 – 9:00 p.m.
Monday – Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Archives closure

April 24, 2014

The Archives are closing at noon Thursday, April 24th, and will be closed Friday, April 25th.

The Archives will open again Tuesday, April 29th, for regular hours.

Extended library hours for finals week

Perspectives from the Archives: Past and Present Preserved

STEM courses and jobs? Yes, indeed!

This is a newly-found 1906 photograph of the early Physics and Chemistry lab at Regis University – then called Sacred Heart College. During more than thirty years of teaching, Fr. Armand Forstall covered chemistry, physics, mathematics, mineralogy, geology, and astronomy. And one more course – assaying. The college’s very employable graduates could assay – determining the gold, silver, and lead contents for Colorado miners in the nearby Rocky Mountains.

HathiTrust public domain e-books added to Prospector

April 7, 2014

The public domain materials from HathiTrust have been added to the Prospector catalog. HathiTrust is a partnership between major research institutions and libraries to preserve the cultural record and make them available to future generations.

Prospector has loaded the metadata for over 3 million public domain e-books and they are accessible to all users of Prospector at no cost. HathiTrust titles will appear in the general results panel of any search done in Prospector; users may read the e-books online or download them in PDF format for local e-book readers.

Library Art Exhibit for April: Cinco de Mayo by Tony Ortega

The latest exhibit features original illustrations by Tony Ortega for his book Cinco de Mayo: Aventuras patrióticas de Cholo, Vato, y Pano (Cinco de Mayo: Patriotic Adventures of Cholo, Vato, and Pano; co-authored with George Rivera).
