“Journey through our Heritage” will be on display in the Hartman Gallery during February. This exhibit highlights the culture and achievement of African Americans past, present and future. From handmade masks and authentic kente cloth to modern- day inventions by African Americans, the exhibit educates viewers of just a few of the contributions made by African Americans. Of special note are an authentic “lawn jockey” on loan for the exhibit from Stiles African American Heritage Center. Come learn the origins and story of this often controversial piece of Americana.
There will be a talk and reception for the exhibit on Thursday, February 16th with Grace Stiles, founder of the Stiles African American Heritage Center. The event starts at 6:00 p.m.
