Woodturnings by Paul Stafford

September 28, 2010

The Dayton Memorial Library will be hosting an exhibit of fine artistic woodturning during the month of October. Woodturnings created by Paul Stafford will illustrate how turned wood bowls and vessels have transcended function and are indeed decorative pieces of art. His work has gone beyond the aesthetic of natural beauty and line and has developed into his highly personal bodies of work. They continually beg the question – “How did he do that?”

Paul is known to be part of the local art gallery shows and has received many awards including a NICHE award. His signature zippered vessels (and others) have been admired and sold not only locally but also nationally and internationally. Several art magazines such as SouthwestArt and NICHE have covered his work. You may have seen it at the Cherry Creek Art Festival or Loveland Invitational Sculpture show.

The woodturnings will be on display for the month of October in the Doyle Hartman Gallery, 2nd Floor, Dayton Memorial Library.

Intimate Botanicals – new exhibit in Hartman Gallery

September 1, 2010

Come see an intimate portrayal of flowers and leaves by award winning nature photographer and Regis faculty member David Bahr. This exhibit leans close to see botanicals from their perspective – below, around, within. Dew drops and lady bugs dunked in pollen, sensuous curves of a caterpillar wrapped around a petal, vivid leaf veins and hummingbirds sipping in silhouette…

You are invited to meet the photographer and view his artwork at the opening reception on Thursday September 2 from 4:30 – 6:30 pm.

David Bahr’s photography will be on display from Thursday September 2 through September 29, 2010 in the Doyle Hartman Gallery, 2nd Floor, Dayton Memorial Library.
