Close Encounters, new exhibit in Hartman Gallery

December 11, 2008

Close Encounters
Andrew Simpkins recently earned an Associates degree in Art from Red Rocks Community College. Although he has participated in many group shows, this is his first solo show of his work. Over the years, he has been greatly inspired by the work of Chuck Close, hence the name “Close Encounters.” An eye for detail, a rare ability to capture the essence of his models’ personalities and a rather odd sense of humor combine to give birth to a unique view of the world.
